Appearance
This herb comes from the olive tree. The tree is a hardy, evergreen tree. It grows to be 50 feet high. Its gnarled branches can have a 30 foot spread. The leaves on the tree are quite narrow. In the spring it produces cream colored flowers. The tree also produces olives that are black or purple when ripe. Some olives are green when ripe.

The plant is native to the Mediterranean.
