In the modern world, we experience a lot of stress. There's so much to do and so little time. It seems inescapable, but accepting stress as a normal part of daily life can be damaging to your health.

In short bursts, the hormones that cause stress help you think sharper and act quicker. That's what they were meant to do. It was one of early man's survival mechanisms. Stress helped keep us alive, but now people live in a state of constant stress. When your body is constantly bathed in stress hormones they have a different effect. They make you feel tired snd cranky. They can make you overweight and even cause disease.

Many times the disease causes stress, but stress can also cause disease. Ulcers and psoriasis can be caused by stress.

Here are some natural remedies for stress that you can start using right now.

Deep Breathing

When the stress really starts getting to you take some time out and take a few deep breaths. Deep breathing can help calm your nerves. It's easy to do and you can do it anywhere.

Close your eyes. As you count in your head to 8 take a deep breath in. Now hold it for 4 seconds. Then exhale for 8 seconds. Do this 3 times. Open your eyes. Don't you feel better? Whenever stress starts taking you over try this exercise.

You can even do this exercise when your stuck in rush hour traffic. If you do, don't close your eyes.

Exercise

Start doing some type of exercise for at least 20 minutes a day. You can walk, run or even dance. You could also try taking a yoga class. Yoga is a great stress buster. There are many kinds of exercise that you can do.

Take a Bath

Put a few drops of lavender essential oil in a warm bath and soak in it for a while. Lavender oil will help increase the number of feel good hormones your body releases and help you feel good.

One of the most important elements of natural remedies for stress is to learn to take time for yourself to unwind.

Get a Massage

Massage helps decrease the stress hormone cortisol in your body and increase the amount of dopamine. It's a great way to relieve stress`and be pampered. Who couldn't use a little pampering?.

Food

Caffeine and sugar will only add to your feelings of stress. Cutting those things out of your diet will help your situation a lot.

Eat lots of whole natural foods. Eating plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables will make sure you get the vitamins you need to be healthy.

If after doing all these things you still feel stressed out, try using these herbs as natural remedies for stress.

  • Jamacian Dogwood

It's simple enough to sit down with a nice cup of chamomile tea and relax. That's what I use for stress and it works great.

Jamacian dogwood and valerian are both sedative and you should use them with caution. Really you should use all herbs with caution.
