Prevention

Prevention is a big component of natural acne remedy treatments. Diet has a lot to do with skin health. Making sure you eat properly will help prevent outbreaks. Eating 6 to 8 servings of vegetables and fruits daily will help insure that you get the vitamins and minerals that will promote skin health. Avoid trans fats contained in hydrogenated oils. Cut out all processed foods especially white sugar and white flour. Avoid caffiene. Caffiene causes inflammation.

There are foods that are considered good for getting rid of acne. They include:

  • alfalfa
  • avocado
  • mango
  • papaya
  • watercress
  • garlic
  • celery
  • olives
  • Brazil nuts
  • pumpkin seeds
  • berries

Keep your skin clean, but don't wash your face with any harsh cleansers. Keep your face clean, but don't wash it too often because washing too much will disrupt the pH balance of your skin and cause it to be dry and flaking. Washing your face twice daily is enough.

Oily hair touching your face can cause acne. Be sure to wash your hair regularly. If your hair is oily keep it pulled back off your face.

Emu Oil

Emu oil is made from the fat of an emu. An emu is a large flightless Australian bird. The oil rendered from its fat was traditionally used by Australian aborigines to treat wounds. This oil has tremendous anti-inflammatory properties and works well to heal acne. It helps kill the bacteria on the skin while still allowing the skin to breathe.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree essential oil has anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties that can help clear up outbreaks. It also helps reduce the swelling and redness that comes along with outbreaks.

Add 5 to 7 drops of tea tree oil to 200ml of filtered water. You can use this as a toner on your face in once in the morning and once in the evening.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Use a cotton ball to apply apple cider vinegar to your acne twice daily.

Add cider vinegar to a pot of boiling water. Let the water cool for a few minutes then use the steam from the pot to steam your face for 5 minutes.

Oatmeal Mask

An oatmeal mask can be used as a natural remedy for adult acne. Cook one serving of oatmeal. Mix in 1/4 cup honey. Allow to cool and then put the mixture on your face. Be careful not to get it in your eyes. Leave it on for 10-20 minutes and wash off with warm water.

The oatmeal will draw the oil from the pores and the honey will tone your skin.

Aloe Vera Gel

Put all natural aloe vera gel on your acne daily. It is a natural antibiotic and helps soothe and heal acne.

Lemon Juice and Rose Water

Mix equal parts lemon juice and rose water. Apply the mixture to your face and then rinse off with warm water after 15-30 minutes.
