Home Remedies for Sunburn

Use home remedies for sunburn to relieve the pain and itchiness of sunburn. These natural remedies will help you burn heal faster.

Apple Cider Vinegar Bath

Natural wood-aged cider vinegar works well in sunburn home remedies. Add two cups of natural wood-aged cider vinegar to your bath water and soak in it for 15 minutes daily.

Baking Soda

Put 1/4 cup baking soda into your bath water and soak in it for 15 minutes.

Baking Soda and Cider Vinegar

Combining baking soda and cider vinegar also makes good natural remedies for sunburn. Make paste with baking soda and apple cider vinegar. Apply the paste to the burn and let it dry. Once it dries use a cool damp cloth to wipe it off.

Aloe Vera Gel

Put aloe vera gel on the burn as needed to soothe the pain.

Lavender Oil

Lavender oil has healing properties that work particularly well on burns. You can put lavender oil directly on the burn. Just do a patch test first to make sure you're not allergic.

You can also mix a few drops of lavender oil with aloe vera gel and apply that to the affected area.

Yogurt

Put full fat plain yogurt on your burn and cover it with cloth. Leave it on for 15 minutes. Then rinse off with cool water.

Vitamin E Oil

Spread vitamin E oil on the area throughout the day to promote healing. Natural vitamin E oil works best, but if you don't have any just rupture a vitamin E gel capsule and put the oil on your skin.

Tomato

Puree a tomato and put the paste on your sunburn for instant relief.

Buttermilk

Put cool buttermilk on your sunburn.

For even more relief soak tomato slices in buttermilk and put the slices on your burn.

Lifestyle

While using these home remedies for sunburn be sure to let your burn breathe. If you must put clothing over it make sure it's loose cotton clothing.

Staying properly hydrated will help increase the moisture in your skin. Drink 8 glasses of water daily.

Put olive oil on your burn to minimize peeling and keep the area moist.

Stay out of the sun until your burn heals.
