This herb is also called blue gum tree, string bark tree, and the Australian fever tree.
Appearance
This evergreen tree can grow to be as tall as 60 meters high and as small as 10 meters. It has small whitish bark and long narrow leaves. In the spring it has white flowers.
Origins
This tree is native to Australia.
Part Used
The leaves and oils from the tree are used.
Medicinal Uses
This herb has a strong odor that makes it good for clearing congested lungs. It is a stimulant and has antiseptic properties. It can be used to treat the following conditions:
- hay fever
- burns
- bronchitis
- colds and flu
- congestion
- gout
- muscle aches
- sore throat
- lupus
- herpes
- cuts
- bruises
- sprains
