Elderberry

Elderberry is a common herbal remedy used from many years across Europe, especially in England. The flowers were used to make medical tea and the berries were used to make cough syrup.

Appearance
Elder is a tree that grows large clusters of white flowers through the spring and summer. In the fall the flower clusters become dark purple berry clusters.
Origins
This tree originates in Europe and North America.
Parts Used
The berries and flowers are used in herbal remedies. The bark can also be dried and used, but it's not as common to use it.
Medicinal Uses
This herb is used as an anti-inflammatory and an immune system booster. It can be used to treat:
- cold and flu
- viral and bacterial infections
- coughs
- high cholesterol
- tonsilitis
- sinus problems
- eczema
- arthritis
