Dandelion Leaves and Dandelion Root
Natural Healing Herbs

Dandelion leaves and dandelion root are both natural healing herbs used in a variety of natural remedies. This common plant has been used for thousands by the Arabs, Chinese and the Welsh in traditional remedies.

Other Names

The Latin name is Taraxacum officinale. It's also know as lion's tooth, pu gong ying, and wild endive, but it's much more commonly know as dandelion.

Appearance

Dandelions are short plants with long dark green leaves and a yellow flower. The stem contains a milky fluid as does the root.

Origins

These plants are native to Asia and Europe. They are found commonly in North America. They are common weeds that most consider to be a pest.

The roots, leaves and flowers of the plant are all used.

Medicinal Uses

The plant contains antioxidants and vitamins A, C and K. It's also a rich source of calcium and potassium. It contains more iron and manganese than spinach. It's used to treat a variety of conditions, including:
