Asian Genseng

Asian ginseng also known as Chinese ginseng or Korean ginseng has been used in ancient medical traditions across Asia to build stamina and strengthen the body and immune system.

Other Names

This herb is also called Panax ginseng, Korean ginseng, Chinese ginseng, and Asiatic ginseng.

Appearance

This plant grows primarily on mountain slopes. It has dark green leaves and grows clusters of small red berries. The root is a thick, tan and woody. It is often times shaped like a person. That's why it's called rénshēn in Chinese which means "man root."

This herb is native to Asia.

The root is used.

Medicinal Uses

This herb contains adaptogens. Adaptogens help stregthen the systems of the body. It can be used to treat the following conditions.

  • diabetes
  • Alzheimer's disease
  • erectile dysfunction
  • cancer
  • cardiovascular disease

Side Effects and Warnings

This herb shouldn't be used by people with high blood pressure. It can cause blood thinning and shouldn't be used with any blood thinners. In some cases it may cause insomnia.
